As an extreme state, we have been studying supercritical fluid science and technology which is defined as the state above the critical temperature and pressure. Separation processes for natural materials have been developed to extract and purify bioactive components by using supercritical carbon dioxide or subcritical water. Reaction processes in sub- and supercritical water are used to produce resources and fuels from biomass. We are developing a hybrid process of chemical and electrical technology as an interdisciplinary research. Pulsed power discharge plasma, laser ablation, and electrolysis in sub- and supercritical fluids have been studied as a novel method for chemical reaction and material processing.
